    Default question about KDE updates

    I have a simple question.

How does openSUSE handle updating KDE?

Is it not updated untill the next os release?

Do updates come in through the update repos?

Do I have to enable KDE's repo to get the latest release?

Is there another option that I haven't thought of?

There is a KDE repo that provides latest stable version.
Also, there is one with the factory (unstable) version.
    KDE/KDE4 - openSUSE

You have to enable one of these repos to get the later versions of KDE.
openSUSE 12.3 (x86_64) with Kernel 3.7.10-1.16-desktop and KDE 4.11.2 on MacBook Pro
Latest MS Windows version used: Win95

It's advisable to stick with stable releases, in your early years anyway

If you want to add the kde4 stable and matching community, you should get on well with those.

    Index of /repositories/KDE:/KDE4:/STABLE:/Desktop/openSUSE_11.2

    Index of /repositories/KDE:/KDE4:/Community/openSUSE_11.2

Once added use software management and view by repo and do this

    Logout and back in

Once you do that you might need to do the switch back on Packman like this

Thanks for the answers. I just wanted to make sure I was understanding what I was reading corectly.

I haven't decided wether to upgrade KDE or not. It's running so good I'm half afraid to try and fix it when it isn't broke.

If you want to upgrade, there's stable packages for KDE4 4.3.3 which are IMHO far better than the 4.3.1 ones your openSUSE came with.
I've helped out quite some people around me on this, they mostly feel that 4.3.3 is what 4.3.1 promises to be. Improvements in speed and performance are big.

    Here's the repo:

    Index of /repositories/KDE:/43/openSUSE_11.2

If you need help on how to upgrade, get back here.

In ubuntu, after the repo was added the update manager handled the upgrade. Does it work the same here?

    Not quite the same
    Code:
    zypper dup
    Basically does it

or follow the instructions I gave you earlier.
And personally, not wanting to dispute @Knurpht - But I still think my recommendation would be Stable repos. The kde43 is basically the same, but it was a stop gap, and I'm not sure how long it will be updated.

Excuse me,but why the one-click installation is titled "KDE 4.1 BASIS".
    Screenshot
I selected the one-click of this link.
INSTALLATION -> STABLE KDE Project (KDE 4.3.4) -> VERSION 11.2

I have KDE 4.3.1 and I would upgrade it to 4.3.4.

KDE 4.1 BASIS is an error

You will get 4.3.4 with that OneClick
