Kontact crashes on restart

For me, in KDE 4.3.4, Kontact often, if not always, crashes on restart if
Akregator has been used during the previous session. This problem is being
followed on KDE Bugzilla if anyone is interested.

Yes, mine has been crashing since about 3 zypper up's ago.
It's a nuisance, but at least it hasn't dumped all of my contacts
like an older version in KDE 3.5 did.

I am testing a solution that might be working. Not had enough extended
testing to confirm yet.

Kadressbook has a Resource which points to a custom address book. There is
a default one labeled 'resource' but it was unchecked. All I did was
highlight it and it blathered about how I cannot delete it unless I create a
new default. So all I did was then put a check in the box and hit apply.

Could be a bug there. Maybe check yours. You can find it under Personal
Settins (Configure Desktop)>Advanced Tab>KDE Resources.

FWIW, I have not had a crash at all today since making the change.

Crashed this morning at first startup. I think there is also a bug when it
tries to access Kwallet. I have noticed that overtime, the Kontact>Kwallet
relationship has stopped working, then started working, then stopped, and
now it sort of works but often fails.

Thanks for the suggestion but I see mine is already ticked. Still no
failures here after numerous restarts and the only thing I've done is to
avoid Akregator.

The only thing I've noticed that I keep losing after crashes is updates to
the Knode filter file. Most frustrating to see familiar trolls and other
crackpots resurfacing.

Same here .. and I have been avoiding akregator as well, that remains unusable as it freezes when chosen in Kontact, and the process has to be killed.

Would like to pull in some feeds though, and am waiting for a while for this to be sorted out. I remain hopeful after each 'zypper up' but the issue has not been resolved.

Nothing unusual for Kontact bugs. A Knode bug I'm following is over a year
old and still no response. Mind you, I'm tracking a Thunderbird bug that's
about ten years old - but at least there's some activity every so often on
that one.
