Default how to load the OS 11.2 DVD over the OS 11.2 gnome

I am dual booting Vista and OpenSuse 11.2
I will be getting the OpenSuse 11.2 DVD shortly.
How do I install it? Just run it over the top of my
present OS 11.2 Gnome? Delete the present OS 11.2 and
    start from scratch???

    What do you mean?

You have 11.2, so why do you want to install 11.2?

What are you hoping to achieve?

What exactly about your current 11.2 install is wrong?
Or are you meaning you want KDE and not Gnome?
No need to re-install, just add
    kde4-base
    kde4-desktop
from the patterns view in software management

    Thanks for your responses.
    Then I am totally confused.
From the OpenSuse web site it tots to different
    versions of Opensuse:
    1. Opensuse 11.2 Gnome edition.
    2. Opensuse 11.2 Dvd i586 4.2 gb
I interpret the OpenSuse 11.2 Gnome edition as a stripped
    down version.
These are, as I see it, 2 totally different versions
    of OpenSuse.
    Am I wrong?

Yep, you are wrong. It's one and the same openSUSE 11.2, but the Gnome edition is a CD, with a limited package selection. The DVD contains more software.

But, as soon as you have it installed, you can add internet repositories to the software management of the system. These give access to all software available on DVD.

There's also difference between i586 and x86_64, first one being 32bit, second one 64bit. Depends on your computer which one you need.

    Versions in openSUSE are done by numbers, i.e. 10.0, 10.1, 10.3, 11.0, 11.1, 11.2 etc.

    maybe we should explain
Gnome and KDE4 are different desktop environments - Which if you are a windows convert, will seem strange, because what choice is there in windows?

You could install openSUSE 11.2 Gnome from the Live CD and actually end up running kde4 (not a recommendation mind you).
