how do I ask kmail to cache all the new emails it receives on my gmail account through IMAP?

but I want to use imap of gmail account, not pop3.

I wanna cache them locally, so I can take them anywhere and be able to catch up on my emails.

Disconnected IMAP might be what you’re after.

I have experienced problems with it though (in older kmail versions). Never ‘lost’ mail (still on gmail) but have had it disappear on kmail, crash kmail (on startup), being ocassionally ‘weird’

You need to select it when setting up your account (I don’t think you can modify an existing account).
