Thread: Trying to install from live usb, boots buut then goes black

Default Trying to install from live usb, boots buut then goes black

I downloaded the live cd iso and installed it on usb using this command (while it was unmounted):

    dd if=openSUSE-11.2-KDE4-LiveCD-i686.iso of=/dev/sdc bs=4M

I then restarted and it loads into a main openSUSE screen, I choose the "OpenSUSE 11.2" and it starts loading. Then it shows the progress abr under the gecko guy and it starts to load, that moves to a few diff. places on the screen and then it goes black. Any ideas?

    ATI? NVidia? Intel?

Try booting in VESA mode (It's under one of them sneaky function keys)

Here's my display info (as reported in Fedora KDE):

    Vendor: Tungsten Graphics, Inc
    Model: Mesa DRI Intel(R) 945GME GEM 20090114 x86/MMX/SSE2
    Driver: 1.4 Mesa 7.6-devel

It's a fairly new netbook: Asus EEEpc 1002HA

Also, I thought this release was supposed to be more netbook friendly? I didn't see a netbook resolution choice.

VESA mode also did not work. So I tried the "Check Installation Media" one and it said the MD5 checksum is wrong.

    I downloaded from here:

    Software.openSUSE.org

It could be a bad download or a bad burn. Did you burn at the slowest speed possible?

I didn't burn at all. It's a live USB. I copied it to the USB stick via the "dd" command:

    dd if=openSUSE-11.2-KDE4-LiveCD-i686.iso of=/dev/sdc bs=4M

    NOTE TO OPENSUSE PEOPLE:

I downloaded from a mirror and it works! So there's something wrong with the download at the "official" location.
