Thread: Evolution Importing Contacts

    Default Evolution Importing Contacts

I use to use Ubuntu, while using Evolution I did a backup of the calendar and contacts I had. The calendar imported just fine, however, the contact information threw an "Other Error", listing permissions as a possible problem. I changed the permissions to 777, however that didn't fix it. I'm assuming there is something in the difference between Ubuntu and Opensuse versions.

Either way, is there a way to successfully import the contacts, or is there a way to extract them from the previous backups. It looks like the backup contacts are in a .db file. Any way to read them directly?

You may have some luck with the evolution-addressbook-export utility:

Ubuntu Manpage: evolution-addressbook-export - export addressbook content from Evoluion
Desk: AMD Phenom II X4 945 8GB RAM Radeon HD 3300 Arch Linux Xfce 4.8
Lap: Intel 2.13GHz Core i3 M330 8GB RAM nVidia GeForce 310M Arch Linux KDE 4.7.3
