wine-32bit vs wine in openSUSE 11.2 x86_64

I’m very confused about the Build Service Wine repository.

There’s a package called “wine” with the version “1.1.34-1.1-i586”

There’s a package called “wine-32bit” with version “1.1.34-1.1-x86_64”

Aren’t those inverted?

Meanwhile, the original “wine” package for opensuse 11.2 has version “1.1.28-2.3-i586”

Which one should I be using? None of them are allowing me to do what I want (insall Photoshop CS2). But that’s an issue for another thread.

wine-32bit-1.1.34-1.1-x86_64 is an “32bit emulator” compiled as a 64bit linux application
see:
WineOn64bit - The Official Wine Wiki
Do U need to run a 64 bit windoze application under wine then take a look at this page:
Wine64 - The Official Wine Wiki
that wine version is still under development and you might need to build the binary yourself :frowning:
If the Photoshop U wan’t to install is 64bit you’ll need to compile wine but there’s little chance it will work.
if U have a 64bit PC running a 64bit kernel get wine-32bit-x86_64, but that wine will only run 32bit appz.

wow, that sure is confusing! But I think I get it…

I have no 64bit Windows apps to run, just normal 32 bit stuff.

Thanks!
