    Question Themes & Window Styles?

Is it possible to use the other themes and window style from gnome, xfce, etc into KDE? Because I like the B-series Window styles of xfce and I would like to use them in KDE.

The KDE window style are boring!..., the B11 is ok, but I want to use the B6 window style among others of xfce..

There isnt too many theme engines/ window styles for KDE4 right now, its kind of sparse
Most of the ones on KDElook are in source code too.
But there are one or two window themes and styles I like.
My most favorite has to be QTcurve, as its so customizable.
Here is a theme I made for it for example:
openSUSE Greenie theme for KDE3/4 and QTcurve - openSUSE Forums

Exclamation Re: Themes & Window Styles?

Could then I be able to run xfce desktop and still be able to run KDE apps with no problems and if so, what would I need to do to fix or configure xfce to run KDE apps?

DeKorator and Aurorae are theme-able each with a section on Eyecandy for your KDE-Desktop - KDE-Look.org.

Both available from KDE community repo in YAST Software management search each and install goto kde-look.org download favorite theme goto config desktop and setup

If you install the KDE apps via YaST or Zypper the dependencies should be dragged in alongside the application itself. KDE apps shuold run fine under XCFE. (btw the only Window decoration I've found that really stand out from the crowd is BeSpin and the only window decoration worth mentioning imo is Dekorator)

Smile Re: Themes & Window Styles?

Thanks everyone for your response! I took a look at the sites given, but so far I couldn't find the style that I likes. I really want to B-series of xfce, because of the Tab Handles on the Windows like the B11 in KDE.

The themes were nice, but all the style were somewhat the same. I'll just install xcfe and go that route.

    Thanks again!

Nothing. KDE, Gnome and Xfce are all freedesktop (more or less) compliant: they use the same .desktop files to start applications.
KDE apps should also appear in XFCE menus unless they have a "OnlyShowIn=KDE;" line in their .desktop file (which can be commented out anyway).
The .desktop files for kde apps are in /usr/share/applications/kde4 under openSUSE.
Optionally, you can enable KDE services on startup in Xfce Settings Manager > Session and Startup > Advanced. But I don't garantee that it works (have trouble with Gnome services).

Hmm, maybe. If your running KDE apps in XFCE a lot of QT and KDE libraries are loaded into memory anyways, so that could make up for XFCE's lighter weight. In general, I try to stick with GTK apps in GNOME/XFCE, and KDE/QT apps in KDE. I'm not exactly religous in following that rule, but I do lean that way.

Surprising is kde is more in harmony with xfce.IMHO
On a newer machine I have kwin, kmail, amarok etc.
    Some run at startup.
