google chrome problem

I am getting error message while I am installing google chrome from RPM downloaded from http://dl.google.com/linux/direct/google-chrome-beta_current_x86_64.rpm

The name org.freedesktop.PackageKit was not provided by any .service files

Any ideas, I am positive that I have PackageKit installed.

Hi
Install the one from the Contrib/standard repository as it will be more
‘openSUSE’ friendly.

i have gnome

I believe you’re missing some Gnome libraries
I had a similar problem some time ago with evince (and a minimal Gnome), Which Gnome meta-packages do U have installed?
I don’t exactly remember which but by installing “more” Gnome packages (libraries) the error went away.

Hi
Tried in a 64bit VM using the 1-click, downloaded the standard items
from non-oss and fonts, installed chromium 4.0.266 and started up fine.

Have you updated the system?

Yes, I am running 64bit opensuse 11.2
I have installed PackageKit package.

Now I will try to install all packages that have something to do with PackageKit, also reinstall PackageKit package. We will see.

BTW, anybody knows what is this “.service” file?

OK, the problem is solved.

Like I said, I installed all packages that contain PackageKit in the name, and it did not work… but then I restarted the system it now it works… I do not understand - but i am happy that i have Chrome :wink:

i found it as a game

will it work with open SUSE 11.1 too?

Hi
No, check out this link;

user jhaygood has a version which I’m guessing is just an obs build
link to the src rpm.

will it conflict with the game chromium?
if so how to resolve it?

Hi
Those are standard installs when the system is first updated, your
probably being redirected to a flakey mirror.

Change your repositories for download.opensuse.org to another mirror in
your location;
