I moved this thread to Applications, as it was in the wrong subforum area before. Hopefully it will get some help here.

    Skype works in opensuse 11.2.

Tell us what you have done, and what is the problem.

You can download the rpm file from skype's website. Select version skype-2.1.0.47-suse111.i586.

There are certain other programs to install first.
    See Skype HOWTO - openSUSE

Then install skype, and it should work
    openSUSE Leap + KDE

I am also having some problems here. Skype is installed and running fine but the microphone on my laptop isn't working. I tried to make a call, tried the test calls but only the speakers are working. Everything works fine using Windows on the same Laptop
It's an ASUS with a Realtech High Definition sound card.
The other problem is with Cheese. The webcam imagies are upside down using Cheese. This is also okay and shown properly on Windows.
    Can someone please help.

The thing I found was that the microphone is sometimes muted - go into
the recording controls (in openSUSE, not in Skype) and make sure the mic
is not muted and the volume is turned up.

i did all that but the microphone is just not working. Could it be a driver problem? i realise that Windows has a Realtec driver but Linux not.
Do you know why cheese shows the images upside down
is there a working webcam programme for KDE?

Are you referring to the KDE system settings? I am using a German system so I have to try and figure out what you mean.
