    Default Firefox behaving badly

    Hi

I have been struggling with Firefox today. My home page (BBC news) opens fine, but when I type in a new URL, it won't open. Even more strange is when I select a bookmark from my folder - it stays on my homepage but shows the bookmark page title in the top part of the window. Links from site pages don't work either.

I am using Konqueror, with my Firefox bookmarks imported - they work fine in Konqueror. My only issue with Konqueror is that it appears as an unrecognised browser in some sites, giving me reduced functionality.

    1. Anyone know how to fix Firefox? I've tried the YaST update route to no avail.
    2. Anyone any tips on how to make Konqueror compatible with more websites (e.g. Google!!!?)

    Hei,

I don't know about Firefox but have seen several threads regarding issues with it.
With Konqueror there is the ability to change from the khtml to the webkit engine, which has improved the browsing for me on some sites, though not all.

Konqueror menu: View -> View Mode -> Webkit

    Cheers

I'm not able to help with this except to confirm that I'm having the same issue on one of my PCs (but not the other), both using 11.2 x64. A bug has been raised here: https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=557385 which you may want to watch.

I'm using Opera at the moment, as Konqueror isn't quite up to the job for many websites. The only downside of that is that some websites assume you are using a mobile phone when they see an Opera user.

I have noted this here before as an afterthought in other threads.

If you use the arrow keys and then the mouse to click in the address bar after you have one of the "suggested" sites finally in the address bar it will go to the site.

FireFox has slowly began to go down hill -- in multiple operating systems.

Before going 100% openSuse I was using five browsers, but then again I am a web content developer.

I've switched to Opera as well, having similar issues as yourself with Konqueror. I have to say that I really like Opera and it'll take quite a lot to get me to move back to Firefox.

Opera indeed is great (I use it since 1999 so I shoud say that).

I met something like this yesterday at a friends. He had to double click the address bar to be able to enter an URL, many other weird behaviour.
My policy always has been: bring it back to how it was delivered. So, first we set the theme back to the default..........problems gone.
In other occasions I have removed the entire ~/.mozilla folder, which often solves things.
