Missing separate debuginfo for ...

openSUSE 11.2 + KDE

I’m trying “firefox -d gdb” following the instruction Bugs:mozilla - openSUSE
I’ve installed MozillaFirefox-debuginfo, however I get around 60 missing debuginfo with build id and a line saying I should try zypper install -C the debuginfo with the build-id (there were a few more which I installed successfully!) but for these when I try the suggested command I get something like this one:

So is there any repository/ies I should add? Do I need to install all of them? or if I’m completely going the wrong road please guide me to the right track.

Hmm. I cannot find a repository with this label. Can you please supply an URL? Also I wonder why the debuginfo should be in a community repository as the libraries the debugger moans at are part of standard SuSE.

I also have the problem that I always get these “Missing separate debuginfo” messages whenever I start a program under the debugger DDD (which calls gdb in turn). This is a real nuisance since the indicated zypper commands do not do anything as they cannot find the debuginfo.

For example, the debugger says:

Missing separate debuginfo for /lib/libc.so.6
Try: zypper install -C "debuginfo(build-id)=7eb4e169e926464393ef2e98d99c37f56d5f5858"

If I then enter the suggested command, the debuginfo cannot be found:

zypper install -C "debuginfo(build-id)=7eb4e169e926464393ef2e98d99c37f56d5f5858"

open YaST, go Software (on left) > Community Repositories (on the
right) scroll down to "Main Repository (DEBUG), click the check box
and then “Finish”…

if you still can’t find it then i’d guess you are not running openSUSE
but rather SUSE Linux Enterprise Desktop or SUSE Linux Enterprise
Server and need to join the folks over in forums.novell.com

Add debug-update I bet it’s been updated therefore you need that repo. Package repositories - openSUSE
