I'm sorry I don't have any experience with openSUSE on that model, but why 11.0? Why not use 11.2?

What I installed on the EEE701 that I used while travelling was Crunchbang Linux, from a USB memory stick prepared using unetbootin. I don't mind using shortcut keys instead of clicking on icons and this lightweight distro is well suited for this rather low-end netbook. Only 80MB or so footprint once booted up. CPU too slow for my liking though (Celeron 900MHz I think). This may be heresy in an openSUSE forum but I've heard Ubuntu Netbook Remix works well on that netbook too.
