Thread: Installing and Configuring Compiz

    Had to downgrade to 0.8 in the oss repo, too many stability issues in 0.9. Zoom & place still don't work in 0.8

    I'm sorry but I don't understand what is meant by this: 'First, make sure you have some basic plugins enabled by opening CompizConfig Settings Manager (Not CCSM)'

    Do you talk about another settings manager than ccsm? And if so: Could you please tell me how to start it?

    And ccsm seems to be severely broken on my system...All I get after trying to start it is this error message:
    Traceback (most recent call last):
    File "/usr/bin/ccsm", line 126, in <module>
    context = compizconfig.Context(ccm.getDefaultScreen())
    AttributeError: 'module' object has no attribute 'getDefaultScreen'

    Is there any way to solve this?

    Thank you very much.

    Thanks a lot for the great how-to. I was not sure of the correct files to install to get compiz working properly Your tutorial got me up and running it a matter of minutes!

    Thanks Again!

    Cheers!

    I have the same problem as DealeyLama (two posts above)

    CompizConfig Settings Manager don't starts...
    And compiz don't work anymore since a update ...

    Sorry, this should say "(not simple CCSM)" as the simple CCSM doesn't give you as many options as the CCSM. I've been away quite awhile since school this semester is a lot to handle. I will update this once I check out how compiz is with 11.4.

    Mine said:The new window manager has failed to start.
    The running window manager has been reverted to the default KDE window manager KWin.
