Default monitor sync out of range

OS 11.2 - for the first time in many opensuse releases works well with my intel 915G onboard video.
Only thing I needed to do manually was specify my monitor in sax2 which has my specific IBM monitor listed.

However, when KDE4 goes to screensaver mode my monitor displays "monitor sync out of range" or something of the like - I'm not at home at the moment - and it will not display the screensaver.
It displays this message until the monitor powers off after the specified period of time.

When I go into system settings and click on the test button for the screensaver it works fine.

    Any ideas please?

I would just check the power saving config (control centre) if using KDE4. Maybe disable if not required.
