Default Openoffice Calc crashes on Ctrl+C in Opensuse 11.2

    Hello,

I installed Opensuse 11.2 yesterday (fresh install, not update).

It comes with Openoffice build 3.1.1.4

Now, whenever I mark one or multiple cells, whatever they contain, Calc crashes immediately when I hit Ctrl+C or choose "copy" in the "edit" menu.

Can anyone reproduce this error, or am I the only one with this problem?

Does anyone know of any remedy?

    Hello,

I just tried it. In my case is working (I'am using the OpenOffice Version 3.1.1.4 from the opensuse buildservice repository).

I have a wish, because I have problems with the extension manager: Can you check whether the extension managager is working in your installation? Have also look on following thread: OpenOffice and Opensuse 11.2 - openSUSE Forums

    Greetings

    Michael

CTRL-C works normally in my OpenOffice.

Have you checked the md5 sum before installation?

Have you checked your RAM with memtest?

If you can, run from LiveCD and and check the filesystems in non-destructive mode.

    Reset and update the BIOS.

    If none works, reinstall.

    Run OpenOffice from Live CD.

If even that does not help, consider replacing major parts of the computer or even discarding the computer.

    Hi

I have exactly the same problem Openoffice 3.1.1.4 and opensuse11.2

Spread sheet crashes when I highlight a group of cells and try to drag them to a new location.

It does however allow me to cut and paste with out any problem

Any Idears would be most welcome as this is a production system

There is a similar problem with WRITE.
If I mark a block and attempt to copy and paste by drag and drop, then as soon as the block approaches the right or bottom boundary of the text window the application crashes immediately.
It doesn't seem to happen if the block is an image. As far as I can see it is just text which causes the problem.
I tried IMPRESS and a very quick test doesn't show this behaviour.
This is a 64 bit installation by the way.
It's a pity, I really like 11.2 but this is a show stopper for me.

    Hi,

I have the drag and drop problems in Writer and Impress (e.g. changing the order of slides). I'am using OpenOffice 3.1.1.4 (today, 3.1.1.5 was released) and Opensuse 11.2 x86.

This clearly is a bug either in OO or Suse as many people are reporting it in the forums.

I have found that in a very small spreadsheet with almost no data does not crash but as soon as the same spreadsheet starts to get bigger it starts to crash.

    Possibly a memory issue.

Mine is now working. Here's how I did it:
Clean installation of V11.2 formatting /home for good measure and manually selecting software packages to suppress installation of OpenOffice from the DVD. Check that there is no sign of it in the new installation.
    Downloaded OO 3.1.1 from openoffice.org.
Followed the instructions of their web site to unpack and install which was straightforward and not too tedious.
Be careful to select the right desktop RPM at the end otherwise you will have to start again.

Wow so it would appear is if it is a bug in suse!! I don't like the thought of going through a whole install again, this is a production computer I am using. Does anybody know if a bug has been lodged with the opensuse team?

I got as far as getting a trace for submission but then stupidly omitted to save it to another medium before reformatting /home, so I havent submitted.
