Thread: Creating a openSUSE LXDE respin for some freinds/family

Default Creating a openSUSE LXDE respin for some freinds/family

I dont see any official LXDE openSUSE support however I am thinking of making a LXDE respin for some people I know.
I am doing this because a few of my friends computers are a little old, and none of them like XFCE as I sampled it to them.
But LXDE seems a lot more popular with them, because its slim and simplistic.
    But where do I start?
What do I need to install to help make this LXDE respin?

    Hi
Get a login and use SUSE Studio and use the X11:lxde repository

    Hi
I just built a VM with a minimal X install, with starting at runlevel
    3.
    - Used zypper to add the repo
    - installed the LXDE pattern
    - modified the windowmanager to startlxde

Tried it out with init 5, all working except there is a bug with lxpanel
and the LXDE profile (netstat plugin). Sorted that and all is running
    fine.

Just a slightly offtopic note in this thread, ... if the idea of having LXDE included in the basic openSUSE installation (as an option) appeals to you, then do not forget to vote for it as a possible inclusion in a future openSUSE release via the openFATE tool: https://features.opensuse.org/307729

To vote one has to log in to openFATE, and then go to the above URL and select the UP arrow on the right side of the page.
