Thread: openSUSE Greenie theme for KDE3/4 and QTcurve

  1. #1

Default openSUSE Greenie theme for KDE3/4 and QTcurve

Well with the release of openSUSE 11.2 just a day away or so now I have made this theme to celebrate
So I made this theme for both KDE3 and 4, with a custom QTcurve.
It is also good looking for QTcurve-gtk too so all the major DE's are covered
This has color schemes for KDE3/4 so all will be happy, or at least I hope so.
Needs the latest version of QTcurve though, but hey its easy to get

    I have a screenshot here:

Yeh a nice looking green theme to fit right into openSUSE, but if you guys want a blue theme that can be arranged too.

Default openSUSE Neo Blue theme for KDE3/4 and QTcurve

Well as promised here is that blue variant I talked about, I know green is not everyones cup of tea so here you go
I wont cover every color scheme though mind you:

Blue and green are good to start with I think so if you want to make your own, go ahead

I'm using MurrinaVerdeOlivo, blends well with the openSUSE Forums basic skin.

How would one install a theme like this? I've only had openSUSE a couple of days ago, but I'd really like to try out your blue theme.

Its easy for the most part.
First you must install QTcurve if you dont have it already, I recommend the latest version you can get here:
    Index of /repositories/home:/cornelisbb/openSUSE_11.2/i586
    Index of /repositories/home:/cornelisbb/openSUSE_11.2/x86_64
one is for 32bit systems (i586) and the other is for 64bit (x86_64)
Since I am unsure of how your system is set up, I am taking a guess you have the KDE version of openSUSE here, but if you use 64bit or 32bit I dont know unless you post your specs.
Install the ones for BOTH GTK and KDE4, it will be noted in the file name.
such as the one for KDE4, its called qtcurve-kde4
After that download my theme and extract it, all files should go to your "download" folder or sometimes your home directory (your personal files directory in openSUSE, its similar to "my doccuments" in windows so you know)
After that load up the app called personal settings in the menus if you are on KDE, and then to "appearance"
and under "style" choose qtcurve in the pulldown menu next to the text that says "widget style"
After selecting it click on the "configure" button and when QTCurves config app comes up and then select "import"
Then import my theme to where you extracted it to.
after it comes up hit "ok" and the new UI theme will be ready.
After that hit "apply" and you will be set on the theme.
Now if you want the color scheme its the same deal as above except you wont have to install anything extra, just keep your personal settings app open and go to "colors"
Here we load the color scheme, click in the button that says "import scheme" and go to where you extracted my theme too and import the .colors scheme, NOT, I repeat NOT the .kcsrc or .qtcurve themes, it will not work.
the .kcsrc theme is for the older KDE fans out there and .qtcurve is only useful ti qtcurve the the theme engine this theme needs.

Ok I did that fairly easily. Now how about setting up that window decoration that you have?
