I manage my network through networkmanager and it already has the nameservers 208.67.222.222, 208.67.220.220. And ddclient configuration file has already been set according to instructions at

.. And the OpenDNS IP does not update automatically. Plus the parental control does not seem to work.

You did put in the correct password and username ? Edit: also the ssl stuff is set to no in the default.

I only use it for name resolution not filtering.
Man first, have a try at Info, have a look at Wiki, if all that fails Scroogle!!!!!
If I've helped click on the Rep button I don't know what it does but it sounds cool.

OK if you have this configured correctly you won't be able to grep a running ddclient it will start and fail and very very quietly. Also forgot to mention you need to change the label for the network.

The only way I found was by using the runlevel editor in yast and checking status it kept returning stale pid and stopped. Then finally tracking the output to /var/log/messages there is a missing dependency(!*$@ing hell) OK so you need to install perl-IO-socket-SSL something like that I did a zypper search. After that when you look in /var/log/messages you should have good.

    Also I wouldn't use whatsmyip.org but checkip.dyndns.org

That was horrible to troubleshoot, no verbosity, and a missing dependency. It probably needs a bug report whilst I'm not for unneeded dependencies. With Suse the way it is a small dep on the missing dep is tiny to some other sins. I won't be bug reporting it.

How about that oldfashioned way, have a talk with your kids on the issue?
The best piece of advice in the whole thread, to my mind
As for software - my aunt (mother of a 8-years-old girl) asked me to install Actymac Dutywatch and Protemac Keybag (I'm not pretty sure if the names are correct), keyloggers for parental and work monitoring.

http://www.scrubit.com/ might prove helpful as well, until the kids learn
how to reconfigure their DNS services, that is.

Thanks for all your response & advice. However, my belief is that parental control is needed to avoid inadvertently opened material on various websites. It may not be always a talk related issue with children.

Most of the software recommended are either keyloggers or for Mac.
