    Default US Robotics USR5610C Modem

Can anyone definitely confirm that this works with openSUSE (11.1)?

    Thanks

The 5610C should work, but I don't see it on the HCL. HCL/Modems - openSUSE

Don't ask "if" something can be done, for it can always be done. Rather instead ask "How" can it be done.

That's the one I'm thinking of buying! Just wanted to check its compatibility first.

Not all modems working under openSUSE are listed there ;-)

    - Serial modems (external) use to work at 99,5%
    - USB (external) modems use to work at 70%
    - PCI winmodems (internal card) use to work at 50%
    - Embedded winmodems (chipset integrated) use to work at 15%

Serial modems do not require any driver to be detected by the system, but
the other ones may need some extra "help" to get them work (even to be
detected by the system), so careful with them, as the required drivers
available do not always provide 100% of the modem capabilities or simply
are availabe for specific operating systems.

    Greetings,
