Thread: .iso how to

  1. #1

    Default .iso how to

    Good day.
I am newbie in Linux so I have rather simple question.
What programs can be used to open .iso files like archive files?
Is there any programs to create virtual CD/DVD drives like DAEMON Tools?

Not sure if it is what you mean but File Roller opens ISOs on my system
out of the box (SLED 11 x86_64) so if you are in a Gnome interface I would
expect that to be there for you as well. Mounting the ISO is closer to
what daemon tools does in windows and that's built into the OS:

    sudo mount -o loop /path/to/your/file.iso /mnt

Browse to /mnt/ to access the data directly.

    Good luck.

I can't recall if I installed an add-on for this or not but in konqueror
I've got an option in the 'actions' submenu called mount ISO at folder.
When I select that and point the dialogue at a folder I'm able to access
the contents of the ISO there.
