dell 5100cn network printer support?

At least in ubuntu I could use a similar model (3100) driver to print something. But so far I can’t find anything in suse for any dell printer. This could be one reason to go for ubuntu instead.

Thanks for the link very much. Although I didn’t see the exact ppd file for dell 5100cn, but sounds like I could use some generic postscript driver. I will have more reading on that. cheers.

You need a single the .PPD file from DEll for that printer. Generally, you can extract that from the vendor’s Windows or OS X drivers. At Welcome to Dell Support, I downloaded the Windows XP, a DOS executable called DELL_COLOR-LASER-5110CN_A06_R244210.exe. This really a ZIP archive. In a scratch directory, use the unzip command to extract the contents of .EXE file. In there is a file Win_x32/PS/English/dl5110cn.pp_ which is a Windows CAB file. Use the cabextract command to obtain the file dl5110cn.ppd. This will be much better than a generic PPD.

You can use YaST to use that PPD when installing the printer.

Thanks a lot!!! will try it.
