    Default ati x550 pci-e suse 11.1

    Hi guys,
i`ve already lookd lots of foruns, including this one but didn`t find any solution. (including thisroblems with ATI Radeon 9850 and fglrx drivers - openSUSE Forums)

i`ve intalled the ati drivers from de terminal (ATI - openSUSE) and also from the installer downloaded from their site (the .run extension one).
    i`ve made sax2 -r -m 0=fglrx, everything looks like ok.
but the 3d acceleration does`nt work, althought 3d acceleration is checked and is greyed out.

i`ll show everything the other guy shown at that post, if anyone can help me.. thanks a lot...

    A few thoughts:
    1. Your xorg.conf file has a lot of extra stuff in it. In my system, I removed most of the font paths; also the modules and mode entries--no need with EDID these days. Check your /var/log/Xorg.0.log file for errors and warnings.

    2. Recently, ATI has been putting things in a configuration database, as opposed to an init file like xorg.conf. You may have a lot of historical stuff in your /etc/ati/amdpcsdb file. You can delete this with no ill effect.

    3. ATI advises against running sax2. aticonfig and amdcccle are preferred.

    4. The compiz user forum has a longrunning thread regarding setting up ATI cards. Worth a look; google user djdoo.

    5. See your /usr/share/ati/fglrx-install.log file for install info.
