Re: kpowersave-suspend to disk/ram does not work
I switched to gnome desktop and it works fine.

Re: kpowersave-suspend to disk/ram does not work
Hi, the desktop shouldn't have anything to do with this, don't use kpowersave then, try the options in the kmenu and see what happens and for s2disk make sure your swap space is twice your ram

Re: kpowersave-suspend to disk/ram does not work
It quit working with gnome also. How would I change my swap file size?
I'm new to linux.

Re: kpowersave-suspend to disk/ram does not work
Go to Yast>System>Partitioner
Make your changes but be careful or u can download the gparted live cd from here and use that to change partition sizes

Re: kpowersave-suspend to disk/ram does not work
i looked at the s2ram page and if
i'm logged in as root in a terminal and enter" s2ram -f" the pc suspends ok, then I press the main power button and it resumes fine.

Re: kpowersave-suspend to disk/ram does not work
alright then do this
press ctrl + f2 and type in for
kde
kdesu kwrite
gnome
gnomesu gedit
copy and paste this
S2RAM_OPTS="-f"
and save file in "/etc/pm/config.d" and name the file "config"
reboot

Re: kpowersave-suspend to disk/ram does not work
ctrl+f2 did not do anything. I assumed it was to open a terminal so that is what I did. Followed your instructions for gnome and rebooted. The first time I tried after rebooting it froze up on startup.I had to press the power button to shutdown, then restarted and it seems to be working ok now.
Is there anyway to get the computer to wake up using my usb keyboard spacebar??
Thanks for your help-

Now each time I log out the computer freezes up when I try to log back in?

Re: kpowersave-suspend to disk/ram does not work
sorry, my misktake, its supposed to be alt+f2, its the run command, as long as u did this perfectly it shouldn't be causing any lock ups at all, try deleting this file and see if it helps.
in case if your machine ever has a hard lock up, other than rebooting manually causing a data loss do this, press Alt+PrintScreeen(SysRq)+RSEIUB
simultaneously and watch it magically reboot
