Thread: what's the meaning of "priority" in mirror list?

  1. #1

Question what's the meaning of "priority" in mirror list?

    for example,
    openSUSE Download Mirrors - 11.1

there's a column named "Priority" which ranges from one asterisk to four asterisks, so what's the meaning of this? are mirrors with one asterisk better or worse than mirrors with four asterisks, or something?

AFAIK this indicates the order in which download.opensuse.org would choose the mirror to redirect you to, most asterisks highest priority. So, if you're in Germany: Gttingen and Halifax-Aachen first.

Halifax-Aachen!!! That must be the first time I've seen those two (and I've been to both) hyphenated, or even mentioned in the same sentence Whatever next, Darlington-Cottbus???
