Default Unable to record any sound

I cannot record sound from line in on sound card or from mp3 playing on the computer. Tried with Adour and sound recorder. Sound card 82801I (ICH9 Family) HD Audio Controller.

Do you mean you can not play an mp3 ? if you mean you can not record from mp3 then I do not understand what you are trying to do. If you mean play an mp3, then you need to tell us what application you are using, and what openSUSE version you have installed, and preferably what desktop you are using (kde-4.1.3 ? kde-3.5.10, gnome ? )

For recording, please follow the advice here to check you record capability:
    Microphone - openSUSE
in particular, please test your mic from konsole/terminal with the command:
    Code:
    arecord -vv -fdat foo.wav
Note you MUST tune your mixer (kmix in kde and alsamixer in gnome) to get a functional mic.

For general sound troubleshooting, please look at our audio troubleshooting guide: SDB:AudioTroubleshooting - openSUSE

and for multimedia setup, please check out caf4926's how to:
