Question HP 1TB Personal Media Drive

Ordered one. Not here yet but want to know if I can partition/format it under SuSE Linux 10.3 to Reiser or ext*.

I called HP Support and now I need therapy for anger management.

Seems like a straight forward question. If it only runs FATxx it can't handle my 7 GB+ movie files, which I find to be quite inconvenient.

    Thanks...

You may find it better to use Parted magic: Downloads - Parted Magic

Just a thought. If you ever plan to connect it to a win pc, you might want to use NTFS. But yes ext3 should be fine.
I can't vouch for how encumbered the drive might be, one or two makers seem to do strange things to them. Hopefully it's just a case containing a regular HD.

I have a Maxstor 120 GB drive (External) formatted as ext 3 and a 1TB MyBook
drive (Seagate) with a 100GB FAt Partitian and it had a 400GB Ext3 partition
which I recently deleted to reconfigure the drive. Both work under openSUSE
11.1 and 11.2 with no issues. The drives are seen from VirtualBox running a
    XP virtual machine also.

I have not tried NTFS but it should work.

I used fdisk to delete everything on the unit then created 4 250M partitions. Finally used mkfs.ext3 to format them. Plugged them into fstab and rebooted to the sounds of great rejoicing and exaltation... and they lived happily ever after. Thanks.
