    Default KDE freezes constantly :(

Hi there. I'm on suse 11.1, kde 4.1 upgraded to 4.3 and experience kde freezing constantly, let's say once every day. It doesn't matter which apps do I have open, It may also be that there is no application running, I leave the pc for 15 min alone, and when I come back, kde is frozen, nothing seems to work, to activate it back, only the Alc+Ctrl+Backspace to logout from it, but even this way, when I login again, sometimes desktop loads ok, sometimes it shows just black screen with only mouse pointer active. But It does not freeze always because of inactivity, it freezes also during active work. I don't remember when this started, but my installation is pretty fresh with not many apps. However this is getting really annoying and would like to solve it somehow, any advice would be much appreciated, thanks.

Assuming repos/versions are correct (which may not be the case) could this also possibly be a powersave issue where a bug in KDE locks the screen inappropriately, even though the screen saver is disabled?

I also note there are different versions of KDE-4.3. There is KDE-4.3, 4.3.1, and 4.3.2. Whether that makes a difference I do not know, but it may help if more precision was given. Also, is this a 32-bit or 64-bit openSUSE ?

On my 64-bit openSUSE-11.1 with KDE-4.3.1, the screen saver kept locking on the laptop after 30 seconds or so, even though power management says not to lock, and the screen saver says not to lock !! This was when the laptop was plugged in. (I also had this happen on a desktop with 32-bit openSUSE-11.1 with KDE-4.3.1). I have not seen this on openSUSE-11.2 milestone8 with KDE-4.3.1 (or is it KDE-4.3.2) ? I finally found a work around which was to change the definition of the Power Save activity when the laptop was plugged in. But it was a pain for the 30 minutes or so when it kept kicking in, locking and demanding a password.
Clearly this was a KDE4 bug (or a bug in the KDE4 power save application). Fortunately the work around is ok in 4.3.1. I now have 4.3.2 applied, but I have not removed my settings to test to see if this is fixed.

When KDE freezes, do ctrl-alt-f2 and log in, then type top. Top will list the applications that are taking up the most resources. From there we can figure out specifically what in KDE is freezing.

As a side note, may also want to read up on DCOPserver.

If these repos don't seem well configured, pls tell me which one to delete/retain and how to set it's priorities according to your best practice.
Assuming repos/versions are correct (which may not be the case) could this also possibly be a powersave issue where a bug in KDE locks the screen inappropriately, even though the screen saver is disabled?
possibly the powersave fires the same trigger to freeze desktop, but this doesn't help me solve freezing, as I said freezing also occures while actively working with applications like VirtualBox. I don't have any screen saver selected. Kde version (as appears in dolhpin) is Version 4.3.00 (KDE 4.3.0) "release 152", it is a 32 bit suse 11.1
    Code:
    2.6.27.29-0.1-pae #1 SMP 2009-08-15 17:53:59 +0200 i686 athlon i386 GNU/Linux
So today it hasn't frozen yet, but will pay attention when it does to check running processes. I would appreciated any suggestion on how to solve this thing, thanks again.

Assuming beagle is gone and you have disable all screensaving. The repos seem reasonably ok. You could delete #1 and 5, as they are duplicates. We are advising now that Packman have higher priority, so you could change it to 90.

ok, did as suggested, now I have to solve my freezing somehow should I upgrade to latest kde version? How do I achieve that actually? Can I do it in Yast->select kde repo-> All in the list->update unconditionally? Will this update my kde to the latest 4.3.x version, or should it update it self automatically?

Change the kde4 Factory to this one:
    Index of /repositories/KDE:/43/openSUSE_11.1

    There is a howto here:
