kernel 2.6.30 is no longer available for SUSE. Get 2.6.31.1 from here Index of /repositories/Kernel:/HEAD/openSUSE_11.1

if you want to keep your current kernel, then you'll have to enable parallel installation in /etc/zypp/zypp.conf - look for the multiversion variable and set the names of the packages

PS: and it is kernel not kernal

i586 means for all 32-bit x86 CPUs (including i686) while x86_64 is only for 64 bit x86 CPUs and only for 64 bit SUSE

What do you mean kernel isn't stable? 2.6.31.x is officially released and I've been running the 2.6.31 series since a month or so.

    Ok thanks..
    I install it but now
when I've multi options for boot
    - opensuse 2.6.27.
    - faithful opensuse 2.6.27
    - debug 2.6.31
sure I boot from debug but if I want to know why this name ?

ps : one of the good things in this kernel is my wireless works now

May be you install some debuginfo packages & symbols like this "kernel-default-devel-debuginfo-2.6.31.1-3.1.i586.rpm"

    sorry ..
This is going wrong. Would you want a mecanic, not knowing a car's engine from it's rear end, to repair your car ?? If I bring your kids to school by car, you would at least expect me to have a driver's license.
Where this is going to end: a broken system, a lot of posts here, you issueing a lot of commands you do not understand.
From what you write, we know you don't know the difference between 32bit and 64bit, probably don't know what your system is, have heard/read the kernel is not stable, yet you want it. I can tell 2.6.30 and 2.6.31 both are stable releases by now.
° Appreciate my reply? Click the star and let me know why.

° Perfection is not gonna happen. No way.

Why did you install the debug kernel??? Unless you're going to debug kernels, you shouldn't use it. Install the -default or whatever but not the debug
