    Default Installing Traverso or Sweep

I'm a total noob to linux, I have virtually zero experience, please help. I downloaded the tar balls for both programs but can't get the setup to run. Can someone please give me the specific command line/terminal entries to run the setup for either program. I show them both in the "download" window but when i try and click on either one nothing happens, i can't even figure out where they downloaded to. Like I said, I'm a noob, so PLEASE speak to me like i'm a 3 year old. Thanks.

    Welcome.

Give these a miss for now. Its much easier (and safer) for you to install via the yast package manager for now. Both those applications you mentioned are available as rpm packages from the packman repo

    Sweep

    Traverso

These links are for openSUSE 11.1, so you may need to search for the version applicable to your system. The 1-click install should take care of adding this repo, and downloading the necessary packages.

More info about manually adding additional repos here:

Since you are new to linux, you might like to read this guide as well:

    Hi
Both of those applications are available via the packman repository. If
you run YaST-Software->Software repositories and then press the 'add'
button. In the list hit the radio button for the community repositories
and press next. In the presented list you will see packman check that
and answer the questions to complete that process.

Now, when finished you can use the Software option in YaST to search
for those applications, hit the check box to select install and then
    the accept button to finish.
