Default Kernel RT: difference between rt_timing and rt_trace

    Hi,

I'm trying several realtime kernels for the use with jack as a low-latency audio recording system on openSuSE 11.1.

What is the difference between "kernel-rt-2.6.29.6", "kernel-rt_timing-2.6.29.6" and "kernel-rt_trace-2.6.29.6". All are from the Kernel Repository

    I've tested the following kernels:

"kernel-trace 2.6.27.29" from the update repository. It is unuseable for realtime audio, because it produces hundreds of xruns. So I've installed

"kernel-rt-2.6.29.6" from Kernel Repository. This one works much better. The audio latency is good, but the system freezes at arbitrary times.

You should probably honor RT Kernel Instructions - openSUSE
