Desktop effects enabling and configuration
Hi,
I installed a legacy Nvidia driver for an older AGP graphics card I have in my PC and now have the option to enable desktop effects in Opensuse 11.1. However the desktop effects don't seem to happen when using PC.
Is there a reason for this?
I think I read in another thread that compiz may conflict with driver. I know there are the X11 settings, configure desktop settings and the Nvidia settings.
I will be very grateful if anyone can help me get desktop effects working.
My PC isn't very powerful- 2Ghz CPU, 1Gb Ram, 64Mb AGP Graphics card (XFX Geforce MX4). I'm not sure if this may be problem.
Thanking you.

I'm not sure I would bother.
Is 3D checked in Yast - Hardware - Graphics?

Re: Desktop effects enabling and configuration
Using KDE4 and an mx440 card I use Kwin instead of installing compiz and the proprietary nvidia drivers.
My specs are a bit less than yours and I find it too cumbersome in the end.
Cheers
Steve
