    Default Can the milestones upgrade automatically?

    Hi,

    I would like to join the testing of suse 11.2 milestones (M7, the final one) and the other releases, but the bandwidth is a big concern to me as it takes around two weeks to download 4G file in China.

    I don't want to download M7, M8, RC1, RC2 respectively, the size of the files could be too much for me. I want to download M7 now, and two weeks later I could install it. After my installation, the system could upgrade itsself automatically so that I could go on with the new releases.

    Or the only way of joining testing is to download each release?

    thanks,

    Hi
    Once you have a base (eg M7) you can download the delta iso images to
    move to the next release. Have a look here at the section Deltaisos;

    On top of the Deltaiso you may be able to get away with running zypper
    dup and that way you upgrade your system to the latest, so when
    milestone 8 is released and you run zypper dup then you will be
    upgraded to that version. The only thing you need to look out for
    with this method is when openSUSE 11.2 goes final you will need to
    change your repos before upgrading else you will stay in factory and
    get a very early look at 11.3

    You may find this post how to update? - openSUSE Forums useful. (it gives a coherent list of repos for zypper dup or zypper up while using the successive Milestones.
