Thread: Sound Doesn't Work

  1. #1

    Default Sound Doesn't Work

I was repartitioning my drives a bunch to get linux to work and I eventually got it all installed, but now my sound doesn't work on either of my operating systems... I've read forums for hours and have tried the fixes, but nothing seems to work. I've also gone through the OpenSUSE audio troubleshooting tutorial. I'm new to linux, so maybe I'm just a huge noob, but I'd really love some help with this. I ran some alsa program and got this link showing stuff:

    http://www.alsa-project.org/db/?f=25...0110ec22ce1d42

I'm running Opensuse 11.1, my motherboard is ASUS P5QL-EM and the audio driver is Realtek ALC1200.

    Things that worry me:
    No codec is installed
It says that "No soundcard detected"
I try to configure it through Yast, but it says "An error occured during the installation of
82801Ji (ICH10 Family) HD Audio Controller

The kernel module snd-hda-intel for sound support could not be loaded. This can be caused by incorrect module parameters, including invalid IO or IRQ parameters.

    Please help me!! Thanks.

Yeah, that's where I got the idea to run /usr/sbin/alsa-info.sh
to get the alsa log that I posted.

Now that intel option is gone-- probably from me messing with the settings. Now all it detects is some 82801JI (ICH10 Family) HD Audio Controller. In my initial description of my problem I posted that I had tried to configure this as snd-card-0.

    It says
    Index Card Model
Not configured 82801JI(ICH10 Family) HD Audio Controller
