Thumbs down Can't burn DVD in suse 11.0

    Hi folks:
I'm having a problem writing the openSUSE-11.1-DVD-i586.iso image to DVD. I've tried both K3b and cdrecorder and both return errors.
The error message in K3b is "OPC failed / Fatal error at startup. Input/output error"
My hardware is a Toshiba A105-S4384 with Matsushita DVD-RAM UJ-8415.

Please make sure you have the Packman Repo. You can add it from Yast - Software - Repositories
Add a mirror close closest to your location from this list:
Additional YaST Package Repositories - openSUSE

Now open Yast - Software Management and search k3b

From the list go to k3b and k3b-codecs one at a time and upon selecting and making sure k3b-codecs is checked to be installed if it's not already. Use the Versions Tab lower down the page to select the radio button next to the latest Packman version of each. If you get conflict warnings look for the option to allow change of vendor to Packman.

IINM OPC means optical calibration, a process to insure your CD/DVD and the driver's writing head are in alignment and the laser power setting is adequate to the media.

If it fails it may be a hardware problem (the drive) or a media problem (the disk). I don't thing the standard Suse k3b wold refuse to burn an Suse image because of multimedia restrictions (although updating is always a good idea).
