printing a list of contact names from KMail address book

Hello, everyone. I am using KMail v. 1.9.9 (using KDE 3.5.9 “release 49.1” open SuSE 11.0).

Can anyone give me instructions for printing out a list of the names in a mailing list I created in the KMail address book? If possible I’d like to have it print in alphabetical order sorted by last name.

Thanks!

Open KAddressbook and select “File / Print”. You can then select some output
and formating options.

Does the standard printing menu not work for you? :-?

Sorry, I just don’t see how to select all the names on the mailing list and then print them. I can print one name at a time, but not more than one.

What to do?
Thx

Open konsole and launch kaddressbook from there by typing:

hpc02@stthpc:~> kaddressbook

Then go to File / print and follow the wizard. It will ask you what contacts
do you want to print and other nice options

I saw that the first time. How specifically do I get KMail to print the names in a mailing list I’ve created – preferrably sorted alphabetically by last name.

I do not see any option to print a mailing list. I see nothing in the wizard that lets me select a mailing list.

Thx. for your help.

O.k. I missed the “distribution list” part, sorry

I was thinking about printing “plain” contacts from kaddressbook, which is
an easy task, but know nothing about how to get printed the contacts inside
a distribution list in kmail :-?

In fact, it seems the contacts pertaining to lists are “pointed” in some
special way to the real users. Take a look
under “~/.kde/share/apps/kabc/distlist” file

Yes, I knew about that file and wondered as you did if there were some way to get the items in that file converted into a printable list of names.

Some time back I had written to the authors listed under “About Kadddress book” but not gotten a reply. Maybe I’ll try again and see if I have better luck this time.

Thx!
