Default Suse 11.1 blogd: Won't boot

All of a sudden no boot. I get "blogd: no message logging because /var files system is not accessible.
I've sure had a lot of problems with this distro.

I would be incline to boot the install dvd, proceed as if for install
Then at this point: Installation/11.1 DVD Install - openSUSE

    Choose repair:
    Select Expert Mode
    Run the File System Check

Either the file system is rotten, or you made changes to it. And hard to tell the details since it won't boot. I've had exactly the same message some years ago, when I changed the permissions of /var/log. Had to reinstall.
