HP DV6 Major Problems!
Hi
Please can someone help? I've got a new HP DV6-1210SA laptop, which comes with this spec:
- ATI Radeon Mobility HD 4530
- Atheros Wireless
- AMD Athlon X2 64bit
I'm having MAJOR problems getting openSUSE working on this thing! I've installed openSUSE 11.1 64-bit and have these problems:
1) Can't get the graphics card above 1024x768. It seems to think it is a 'generic' card. I can't find a suitable driver for it anywhere.
2) Wireless - I've been following all the Atheros tutorials but with no luck whatsoever. I've installed MadWIFI and set it up as described in the various articles, but it still won't detect the card. I've also attempted the ndiswrapper method, but can't find a 64-bit driver for the card anywhere. I suspect the problem is that it has a 'softkey' on the laptop that enables/disables the wireless. The light is always orange, whereas when I boot up Vista32 the light automatically turns blue. When I boot openSUSE it remains orange and pressing it has no effect.
If anyone can help I'd really appreciate it. These two issues are show-stoppers for me and in 2 days of searching I have been unsuccessful in resolving the issue! I'm also a little disappointed that I have to follow pages of tutorials to get my wireless working. Surely it should be simpler than that!
Kind regards
Graham
