Thread: gkrellmd from another opensuse box

Default gkrellmd from another opensuse box

I have set up and used gkrellmd for several years on systems installed at work and at home.

    Work setup:

Server #1 running gkrellmd - openSuse 11.1 (server only)
Server #2 running gkrellmd - openSuse 11.0 (server only)
Workstation running gkrellm 0 openSuse 10.2 KDE

In this setup, I am able to run a gkrellm on the workstation for both servers and the workstation.

    Home setup:

Server #1 running gkrellmd - openSuse 11.1 (server only)
Workstation running gkrellm - openSuse 11.1 KDE

In this setup, I CANNOT run gkrellm for the server. I keep getting the unable to connect message. I have messed with the gkrellmd.conf file, and even copied the one that was working from my work setup. No go. Even tried to launch as su root, no luck.

The openSuse 10.2 does not seem to have an issue with this. Would there be anything in openSuse 11.1 that would stop me from connecting? I am able to ping the server using both the IP address and the server name.

    Thanks

Is the port open in the firewall?
