    Default unable create broadband connection

    i have just installed opensuse on my compaq cq 40 317-tu laptop....i am unable to connect to my broadband..
    i hv utstarcomm adsl modem....
    please give me the steps to configre the connections as i am very new to the linux platorm and not familiar with the even basic commnads

    Is that an internal modem or are you linked to it through ethernet? If it's an internal modem it's possible that there aren't any linux drivers available for it. If so you should consider buying an external modem you can connect to through an ethernet port.

    no its an external modem....
    uses pppoe bridged ethernet connection..
