Database files *. dbf some corrupted

I use openSUSE 11.1 x86. Encountered the following problem. In the mail came a letter with attachments. Contain *. dbf database files are easily opened for example Open Office. Note that not all files are coming correctly, that is, there are several files that are corrupted … with the emerging suspicion that this is happening precisely when takes them from the server in linux, because through all the normal Windows come!

The diff command says that the files are different (the one that lies kompe By joining and one that actually was sent).

Perhaps those who experienced it and suggest what to do and how it treated? Perhaps there is something that corrects these dbf By joining already in the post … just do not understand that …

It sounds like you are saying you received an e-mail with some .dbf files
via some unnamed e-mail client in Linux (mailed from whatever) and you
cannot open them. Regardless of whatever else happens you owe it to
yourself to verify the integrity of the files using something made to do
that (md5sum, sha1sum) from the source and the destination to see if the
files really are different. ‘diff’ apparently says they are, and that’s
probably good enough, but it’s usually easier to get in the habit of
sending an md5sum with an attachment so you do not have to go back and
forth copying files multiple times (especially when they’re of any
substantial file size). If the checksum matches on the source and
destination side you know (with a high degree of certainty) that the files
are identical; if not, they are not the same for sure.

md5sum /path/to/the/file.ext

You can also compare the received file if you open it with two different
clients, one you believe is working and another you believe is failing.
If the exact same e-mail (not one you CC’d to another account or a resend
of the same files) can be opened with one client and it works while using
another client fails then there is a problem in there somewhere, though
you’ll still need to find out where it is (server, client,
protocols/wires/layers between the two, disk subsystem on the client side
or anything else on the client side).

Good luck.
