    Default Problems Booting after installation

Hi - I am a brand new suse 11.1 user - new to linux.

I installed suse on a 2nd drive that was blank - just bought a 640gb. My first drive is Vista. Everything went well - searched though the forums for some tips.

When I boot now I get a screen with 3 options.
    1. Boot to Suse 11.1 (lot of numbers)
    2. Safe Suse 11.1
    3. Windows

Windows works fine if I select 3. If I select 1 then my screen just goes black and sits there. When I select 2 I get suse in 800x600 - (I want 1600x1200), this reminds me of windows safe mode just to fix things and get out, couldn't even change my display settings.

I take it 1 is what I want - but I can't get there. So what might the problem be. I looked through the forum but couldn't find anything that applied to this situation.

It doesn't even try to load. Thanks all

    My system info is:
    CPU - Intel Core 2 Duo E8400
    MB - BIOSTAR TPower I45
    Memory - OCZ 8GB DDR2 PC2-8500
    HD - Seagate Barracuda 7200.12 1TB SATA
HD - Western Digital 640GB 7200 RPM SATA
    Video - GeForce GTX 260

Do you have an ati or nvidia video card?
If so, boot in safe mode (option 2) and go to yast.
Now go to yast>software>repositories and choose add repository>community repository.
When the list appears, add either the ati or nvidia repo, accoring to your card.
Once you have added the correct repo, exit and go to yast>software>install software.
Filter on repositories and choose ati (or nvidia) and you will find that the required drivers are marked.
Choose to install them and reboot.
If you look in How To/FAQ (read only) - openSUSE Forums you will find a how to for ati cards.

Very nice that worked and it has the correct graphics card listed. Thank you.

I do have an additional problem - I can barely read the letters on the screen now - they are blurry. I cant seem to find where to change my display settings to get a different resolution to correct this. As I said I am reading 90mph and trying to catch up - this is so new to me.

    Thanks again.

Is this a kde or gnome desktop?
You have install your graphics by the sound of it. So you may need to adjust the fonts in the Desktop Config
These are my settings in kde
ImageBam - Fast, Free Image Hosting and Photo Sharing

Updates may pull in some M$ fonts too, so you may want to run that.
