Unhappy Noobie to Linux - Need to configure audio and video

I just installed OpenSUSE and am having problems. I do not get any sound, I have checked.. nothing is muted, and it shows that it is playing, however my sound blaster is not producing anything... my soundcard is onboard my Intel motherboard. Any suggestions on how to fix this?

I was running Vista before... for obvious reasons I got rid of it and chose linux... however, it's tough without sound and I don't really know where to start... any help would be appreciated.

Also, I have a dual screen display, where my 2nd screen happens to be my tv, i have a nvidia 6600gt connected using component cables to my tv, currently the tv display is all green and garbled... the desktop etc.. does not display. The display settings do not recognize a tv is connected, any suggestions here? Would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

    Some places to start:
