OpenSuse freeze

Hi,

I’ve been working with opensuse 11.1 for a while, but sometimes the system freeze and i don’t know why.
I can’t even open a terminal console, i see that the process gnome-session is consuming almost 100% of the cpu but i dont know why…

I’ve to reboot the pc in order to continue working.

Anyone could tell me what could be wrong?

Thanks, Santiago.

First thing I would suggest is uninstall all desktop search stuff starting
with Beagle, strigi, kerry.

See if that helps.

Not to sure on Gnome but also disable nepomuk server if you can.

Since installing KDE 4.3.0 I am seeing OpenOffice writer freeze a lot. Just
installed last week and have not been able to have it fail every
consistently, no error messages.
if you find cause please post it. I’ll do same.

you can try launching from a terminal (like use oowriter at a CLI to
launch Writer) and then if it freezes it MIGHT have some useful info
visible in the terminal…

sounds like a bug the KDE and oo guys need to pay attention to…i
wonder if it has yet been logged?

See bug 523643 on Novel Bugzilla. I reported it, had some system problems,
it was closed for lack of response, I reopened it yesterday. Please add your
comments and experiences.

thanks.

Hi guys,

After investigating for a while i have found that the file xsession-errors says:

***_IceTransSocketUNIXAccept: accept() failed
_IceTransSocketUNIXAccept: accept() failed
_IceTransSocketUNIXAccept: accept() failed
_IceTransSocketUNIXAccept: accept() failed
_IceTransSocketUNIXAccept: accept() failed
gnome-session: Fatal IO error 24 (Demasiados ficheros abiertos) on X server :0.0

Any help?

By the way, i’m using gnome no kde.

Thanks, Santiago.
