Smile Removal of Open Suse boot? splash? screen

    Hello All,
I want to remove the green [Open Suse] boot? splash? screen with the little white progress bar. This particular screens shows up:
1 - After selecting the grub menu choices
2 - After logging out / shutting down from the desktop

    Question:
    - How can i turn this thing of, so i am able to see all starting and stopping service messages on the textmode screen again?

Go to Yast>System>/etc/sysconfig Editor ans search for splash, you should
see an option to turn it off after the kernel loads.

That will do it for you.

You could just hit Esc. at boot to get verbose.

    Or edit /boot/grub/menu.lst
    take out: splash=silent

    if you do this
    Yast>System>BootLoader
and then edit splash=silent to splash=verbose
that should get you want you want.

This question is still unanswered for me.
How to remove the boot selection screen - I have no other OS installed so it's useless for me.

Do you mean no boot menu to display, just boot right in to OS without the option to go failsafe? You could go the Fedora route, the menu is hidden, default 2sec timer to boot. Or hit key and menu appears. I can check the details if you like.

But what if an update goes wrong and you cannot get into failsafe?

Just change the delay for the grub screen down to a quick 3 secs if you
    want.

If an update goes wrong after the boot the cli login comes up.
Generally - it would be good some minimal delay about 1-2 sec, but i don't need the boot screen.

    You go into Yast
    - system
    - bootloader
    Choose the tab: bootloader installation
    now - option bootloader
    you will find:
all below the time delay to be choosen
in the checklist the possibility to "hide menu at boot"
Just "clicking away" security warnings about a change in repo signature ? Not able to control?
    Then please vote for

openSUSE should have an efficient web of trust.
