Default Why do I see so many md devices in /dev?

I have created only one (md0).

I see md devices up to md31.

    Is this normal?

    Thanks,

I don't use RAID, and I've got 31 as well.....On all machines. Don't know why, but I guess it's normal.

There are a lot of different device that are put in by default, they take up
no room at all and are just place holders in case they are needed, do not
worry you should never have to mess in that dir, just forget it ever exists.

    :-)

The only time I had to meddle in there was to create some custom ones with
mkdev for a TV/capture card and that was a long time ago when it was not
    naively supported.
