Default How to change Main Menu

    Hi,

I am new to OpenSUSE. When I click on Computer icon in the panel, Applications, Documents and Places buttons show up. When Applications button is clicked only a handful application show up, then I have to click on More Applications button and wait for another window to open up. Is there any way I can change this menu to like windows Start Button or Ubuntu, so that all applications are appear under different categories and all I need to do is click on the name of the application that I need to launch.

    Thanks

    Greenmetal

    Hi
Right-click on the panel and select 'Add to panel' then select 'Menu
Bar', then right-click on the 'computer' icon and remove. If you wish
to go back the the 'slab' menu its the same process except select 'Main
    Menu'.

I'm quoting myself from an earlier post.

You can change from the Opensuse style to the default KDE style.

Start the Personal Settings from the main menu or press Alt+F2 and enter kcontrol.

    Select Desktop > Panels.

    Select the Menus tab.

There's a dropdown box next to "Start menu style" that allows one to select "SUSE" or "KDE." When you select "KDE" more options for how menu items are displayed become available.

    See if you like it.

I think those instructions are for KDE3 and not KDE4 it will have no affect
    on the plasma desktop.

    greenmetal,

I see that Malcolm has already given you an answer, but I would just like
to add a little on the default SLAB menu.
The SLAB menu presents you with a list of applications that are favorites.
You can easily add/remove from this list just by right clicking an icon on the
SLAB menu to remove from favorites or in the More applications window to add
    to favorites.
IMHO you don't need to clog the menu with all apps, just the ones you use most
often. Then when you need an rarely used app click for More Applications.
