    Default gnome desktop problem

    Hi again!

    My problem now is the consequence of what happen before.
    The memory crashed when i was installing new packages.

    After i put a new memory then run fsck, reboot and able to use the suse. my gnome environement is now all ********** up.

    Symptome :When i reduce a software, or any window, nothing appear in the desktop bar, and also the 4 boxes representing different level of the desktop disappeared.

    So i wonder if i have to reinstal my gnome environemt, or just repair something broken

    Im sorry if i didnt make myself clear, but my english give me some trouble!!

    Try first by creating a new user, then login with that user and check if all
    it's working fine for it.

    Thank you very much for answering!

    So i've created a nex user account, when loading the new account i have three alert messages :
    - This is a translation, so it might be a little bit different in english

    * The desktop encounted a problem when loading <<OAIID : Gnome_workspace switcherApplet >>
    Do you want to delete or keep them

    * The desktop encounted a problem when loading <<OAIID : Gnome_ShowDesktopApplet>>
    Do you want to delete or keep them

    * The desktop encounted a problem when loading <<OAIID : Gnome_WindowListApplet>>
    Do you want to delete or keep them

    And then I ve got the same problem than with the other account.
    So i guess i have to reinstall those Applet, but to be honest i dont really know how to proceed!

    Thank you for your time

    Those applets seem to be related with "gnome-panel" package.

    Were you updating some packages from OBS /gnome repository when the system
    crashed?

    blowback123,

    Once you get logged in are you able to see the panels at all?
    If you can remove them you can then try to create a new one
    and the objects you want back to it.

    Ooops... take *much* care with that. OBS gnome packages tend to "break" a
    lot of things. I also lost my volume applet manager (after updating from
    2.24 up tp 2.26) and never returned (it says it's "obsolete" and not
    available).

    Perform another update (if newer packages are available) from /gnome OBS
    repo, maybe that way you can restore the "lost functionalities".
