    libqt4 is available from the kde4 factory desktop, no need to add qt45.

    I though maybe there was more to your error. Sorry.

    Hold on I did not check that. Let me recheck.

    You realize this thread is about kde4.3
    Your sig is listing 4.2
    And even if you are running the 42' repo's your sig is still incorrect as 42' is providing 4.2.4 I think

    But I would need to see your repo's
    Code:
    zypper lr -d

    Yup, my mistake, I did not update my signature. It is updated now, thanks for pointing that out.

    OK, I forgot, you are the dude with the Local repo. I guess you missed something out in your downloading.

    [edit]
    No you are using 4.2! That package is not in the 4.2 (42') repo's.
    It's confusing having you asking about kde4.2 in kde4.3 thread.

    Nevertheless QT 45 repo is not recommended for 4.2 or 4.3
    And why are you getting a 4.3 app if you are running 4.2. That version of ark you quote is from kde4.3 repo's The one in 42' is still prefixed with kde4-ark and it's version is 4.2

    I installed openSUSE-11.1 from the KDE-4.3 live CD (made by openSUSE community "KDE Four Live" CD ) on a sandbox PC (athlon-1100, 1GB RAM, nVidia FX5200, wired ethernet connection) and in summary, it works well.

    I'm a big KDE3 fan, and have deliberately avoided KDE4 thus far, other than to do the occasional test.

    My assessment from playing last night, is KDE3 and KDE4 are now roughly equal. There is eye candy on KDE3 that I do not have on KDE4. And visa versa. There are KDE4 applications that do not work well, but in many cases the KDE3 equivalents will work on KDE4. There are cases where support for KDE3 apps has stopped, but KDE4 apps work better.

    Overall in my view, there is a balance between the two (KDE3 vs KDE4).

    If openSUSE-11.2 can cure its non-desktop bugs between now and the GM version, there is a good possbility I will install 11.2 on my main PC (w/KDE-4.3.x). KDE4 is no longer a consideration for my installing 11.2. Rather there are now other non-desktop factors that I will take into account in deciding if I should install openSUSE-11.2 GM version.

    One bug I noted with KDE-4.3 on openSUSE-11.1 (as installed from the LiveCD), was when I customized the konsole, my settings were not saved. I don't know if it was my finger trouble, or due to a theme I selected, but that was a surprise, as I know that worked in an openSUSE-11.2 milestone-x KDE4 version.

    I am such a rare(unique?) case, how did you forget?

    Yes, I do use KDE 4.2.4 and I am trying to update it to KDE 4.3 and was facing the before mentioned problems.

    Many thanks for pointing the libqt thing out. I am running KDE 4.3 now with Qt libraries from the Factory repo itself. But still I find the kopete systray icon missing
    But in general things are much better.

    The thing I am missing the most is the openSUSE desktop branding. I have the default KDE branding and look-and-feel (e.g. no lizard icon for the kickoff launcher).
    I find these branding related packages in the 11.0 Factory repo but not in 10.3 Factory repo
    * kdebase4-workspace-branding-openSUSE-11.0-85.7.i586.rpm
    * kdm-branding-openSUSE-11.0-85.7.i586.rpm
    * kio_sysinfo-branding-openSUSE-11.0-85.7.i586.rpm

    Any ideas why they are missing in 10.3? Are they temporarily not available right now or will never be supported?

    No idea. I suspect 10.3 is going to get way less attention as it's life term will soon end: SUSE Linux Lifetime - openSUSE

    Ah! I guess that is the reason. Seems that I have to plan an upgrade to 11.1 or 11.2 soon.
    Thanks for the help again!
