during install, did you select your language and localization?

Yes. Localization and language is chosen right.
In all other programs such problem is not observed.

Perhaps this is due to the fact that I updated the xorg-server to version 1.6.2. From this repository: X11:/XOrg/openSUSE_11.1.

your english is great! but i have NO idea if that upgrade causes the
VERY STRANGE problem you have..

but, i ask did you 'update' for a specific purpose or need?
or just update to update?

i can't recommend just throwing updates at a well running machine..
i mean, i english we say: If it is not broke, do NOT fix it!!

maybe if can you backtrack and UN-update back to the standard X you
will solve the problem...maybe not...

HOPEFULLY someone will come along who actually knows WAY all those
words are missing in your YaST!!
